Family History Report (pages 9 & 10)

Church Registers during the last century did not record Deaths. In fact Deaths were not recorded until the commencement of Civil Registration in 1864. Here at the Centre over the past number of months we have been indexing the Civil Death Registers from their commencement in 1864 onwards. Consequently I am now in a position to provide you with information on all recorded Deaths in the Reidy family at Beaghy:-

1) On the 12th April, 1867 your great-great-great-great-grandmother Honor Reidy died at Beaghy. Her age was given as 84 i.e. born c. 1783. She was described as the wife of a farmer. Old age was recorded as the cause of Death. While her son Patrick Reidy i.e. your great-great-great-grandfather was shown to have registered the death. From the enclosed copy of the said death entry you will witness his signature.

2) On the 22nd February, 1886 your great-great-grandfather's brother John Reidy died at Birchfield. His age was given as 22. He was described as the son of a farmer. His marital status was given as single. Typhus Fever which he had for 3 weeks was recorded as the cause of death. While Patrick Reidy was shown to have registered the death.

3) On the 2nd October, 1884 your great-grandfather's sisters Mary and Eliza Reidy died at Beaghy. Mary's age was given as 8 months. She was described as the child of a farmer. Morbellia which she had for 8 days was recorded as the cause of death. Her father Patrick Reidy i.e. your great-great-grandfather was shown to have registered the death. Eliza Reidy's age was given as 2 years and 9 months. Morbellia which she had for 9 days was also recorded as the cause of death. While her father Patrick Reidy registered the death.

4) On the 2nd March, 1886 your great-great-grandmother Mary (Carey) Reidy died at Beaghy. She was described as a farmers wife. Her age was given as 29. Puerperat Fever which she had for 13 days was recorded as the cause of death. Her husband i.e. your great-great-grandfather Patrick Reidy was show to have been present at the time of death.

5) On the 7th February, 1902 your great-great-grandfather Patrick Reidy died at Beaghy. His marital status was given as widower. He age was given as 47. His occupation was given as a farmer. Phthisis which he had for 2 years was recorded as the cause of death. His son Patrick Reidy was shown to have registered the death.

I am enclosing with this report copies of the above mentioned death entries giving details re same.
